model IT: Modelling and Scaffold Design

model IT is the powerful yet easy to use 3D modelling and scaffold design module for scaffolding in Tube & Fitting and various brands of System Scaffolding. SMART Scaffolder’s model IT is the fastest way to create 3D scaffolding models, drawings and load lists for any building shape, including those with splayed corners and sloping ground.
With model IT’s intuitive ‘games’ type user-interface and extensive tools scaffold details can be entered more quickly than ever before. The ‘Draw Plan’ feature can be used to pick points off a 2D grid or to trace over an existing plan. Alternatively generic building shapes can be quickly stretched to suit the job with ladders, bracing, etc complying with TG20:08 inserted automatically.  model IT can be used in conjunction with estimate IT to prepare quotes or stand-alone to produce illustrations for reports, method statements, load lists and drawings.

SMART Scaffolder model-IT has an intuitive modern user interface which means that your scaffolds can be entered more quickly than ever before! The Draw Plan feature means the model can be picked easily off a 2D grid.  The scaffold plan is then simply stretched to suit the building shape and height with ladders and adequate bracing to comply with TG20:08 inserted automatically. Sloping Ground, Bridges and gable ends and hop-ups can also be added easily.

Additional items such as brick guards, sheeting, hop-up brackets, cantilever fans, rubbish chutes, netting can all be included simply by ‘drag-n-drop’ onto the model from the illustrated menu bar.

SMART Scaffolder model IT will also calculate overall quantities automatically, helping you to plan and price your scaffolding projects.  The scaffolding, ladders, boards, sheeting, etc. are calculated and displayed on the screen throughout the modelling process.  These quantities can be used to benefit many activities including validating estimates and transport planning.
The software automatically produces a detailed and itemised load list of all the required scaffolding including tubes, boards, fittings, ladders and any additional items. Load lists also include the weights of materials which can be used in the yard, on site and also used to assess transport costs. Load lists can be printed for selected lifts which is useful where materials are supplied progressively.

Quotations, reports and method statements can be greatly enriched by the inclusion of colour illustrations scaffolding schemes.  A company logo can be pasted onto a movable sign board to ensure the creator gets full credit for the model.  Such 3D models can also be used on site to assist with planning work and inspections.

All customers, from small private clients to main contractors, will be impressed by being able to visualise the proposed scaffolding. Pictures generated from 3D models can be pasted into documents and PowerPoint presentations or emailed to customers and colleagues.

You can also produce detailed tube-and-fitting scaffold drawings from model IT, making this the ideal way to design a scheme and issue the most professional documentation, illustrations and drawings to your customers. 

SMART Scaffolder model IT was developed in 2008/9 and is therefore fully compliant with TG20:08 and other relevant technical guidance.You can model and check your structures dynamically for TG20 compliance.

When model IT is combined with the check IT+ module, it can automatically perform interactive TG20 compliance checks throughout the modelling process, enabling you to produce a detailed printed report once completed. This means that you won’t have to justify as many scaffolds with expensive and time-consuming engineering design calculations!
