Exactly a year ago the C.A.S.E. software solution for scaffolding design and estimation was purchased from Gary Day Associates by CADS. One year on and following customer consultations and months of development, a new rebranded and enhanced C.A.S.E. is ready to roll out.
C.A.S.E. 2012, was co-developed by James Day and CADS, to update the software to be compliant with TG20:08, the Technical Guidance published by the NASC. Time has been spent to ensure existing customer concerns and requirements have been addressed or are noted for future releases. CADS have been keen to ensure a stable and user friendly release that really adds value for customers, whilst retaining all of those features that users have come to rely upon and trust.

What’s new in C.A.S.E.?
Apart from the updated branding and packaging, C.A.S.E. 2012 provides an option to use TG20:08 as the technical standard for tube-and-fitting independent scaffolding, providing several benefits:
- The loading statement included in the printed contractual quotation now conforms to the TG20:08 load classes;
- A brand-new TG20:08-compatible tie calculator has been provided, which calculates the number of ties required, and therefore the labour required to build them, to the new TG20 tie patterns instead of the BS 5973 tie density;
- The TG20 tie positions are now included in the drawings for independent tube-and-fitting scaffolding, with a selection of tie patterns available;
- The independent tube-and-fitting scaffolding drawings and loading lists now use the preferred TG20 style of double-bay façade bracing, which spans two bays and two lifts;
- The drawings have also been improved to use a more realistic style that shows the tube thicknesses;
- The performance of the software has been improved when sharing C.A.S.E. quotations over a network of computers;
- Several bugs and issues have been addressed, thanks to customer feedback.
